09282022 CH MAYOR SUSAN SHIN ANGULO

Cherry Hill Mayor Susan Shin Angulo announces that there will be no tax increase in the latest Township budget.

Cherry Hill's new municipal budget will be the 11th in a row without a tax increase, Mayor Susan Shin Angulo announced at Wednesday evening's Township Council meeting.

"I am extremely proud that the 11th year in a row there will be no increase in your municipal taxes," Shin Angulo said in submitting the fiscal-year 2023 budget to the Council.

Shin Angulo said her priorities are investing in the roads, public safety, public works and providing vital Township services.

Council members now must review the budget, which has yet to be released, and conduct a public hearing before it is formally adopted.

The mayor explained that taxpayers receive a bundle of taxes — from the Township, Camden County, the school district and fire districts — that are included in their overall bill, but that the municipal portion again will not increase.

"We have been able to strike the balance between keeping the municipal tax rate flat while investing in roads, facilities and services," she told Council members. "And thanks to the tax revenue from our township's robust commercial sector, which continues to grow and thrive despite the pandemic and economic challenges."
