Sunny and a blue sky over the agricultural land on Centerton Road in Moorestown where 64 townhouses will be built.

Part of Moorestown's affordable housing program will fall into place on Thursday when the Planning Board is expected to finalize its approval of constructing 64 owner-occupied townhouses — 13 of them affordable — next to the Burlington County Agricultural Center on Centerton Road.

D.R. Horton Inc. will buy the 17.64 acres from the Diocese of Trenton to build the L-shaped development on the mostly agricultural land and add a sole entrance and exit on Centerton Road. An existing house and shed on the property will be demolished.

The site was added to the municipality's affordable housing plan in 2019, when 83 townhouses, 17 of them affordable, was envisioned. The project has since been scaled back.

The site of the Centerton Road townhouses, in the yellow border, is about a half-mile from the Hartford Road intersection.

On July 11, Planning Board members unanimously approved granting D.R. Horton preliminary and major subdivision approval. The vote this week is expected to memorialize the resolution outlining the project and the conditions for development.

The Enclave, the name of the development, will have four streets and feature the "Crofton," a four-bedroom, two-car-garage townhouse with basement storage and a rec room. The "Jefferson" affordable units will have two to three bedrooms and no garage or basement, according to plans.

All the streets will get sidewalks, except for the frontage on Centerton Road. Instead, the developer has proposed an 8.5-foot asphalt bicycle path.
