A Lenape High School graduate who has lived in Mount Laurel for the past 44 years was sworn in on Wednesday, July 19, as her town's representative on the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education.
Nicole Moore Samson, who graduated in 1987 and has two children who are Lenape High alumni, fills the vacant seat caused by the retirement in June of former member Marc R. Jones.
Samson is an educator: She has been principal of the Indian Mills School in Shamong since 2001.Â
"I am eager for this opportunity to serve the community and feel I can make a real impact by cultivating my many years of experience in public education," Samson said in a statement. "I look forward to continuing the meaningful work accomplished by the current Board of Education and administration in providing the students of this district with exceptional educational experiences."
LRHSD Superintendent Carol Birnbohm noted both Samson's professional skills and her Mount Laurel roots in saying she will be a strong addition to the board.
She is an active member of the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association and has served as chair of the Nominating Committee, Vice President and President. She is a member of the National Task Force on Race and Equity for the National Association of Elementary School Principals and is a member of the Burlington County Women's Advisory Council, according to a school district news release.
She received her bachelor's degree in English from Bryn Mawr College and her Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
