Evesham Township has put out to bid the all-inclusive playground — designed for children with disabilities but intended to be used by all — for Evesboro Downs Park that will be funded with a state Green Acres grant.
Gov. Phil Murphy in 2018 signed legislation creating "Jake's Law," which offers incentives to build all-inclusive playgrounds for children and adults. Evesham last July announced it was awarded a $731,000 state grant to build a playground.
The law is named for Jacob Cummings-Nasto, who died in 2007 at age 2 from complications of heart surgery. Jake's grandparents, Jim and Lynn Cummings, estimated that about 100 all-inclusive playgrounds are built or in the works across New Jersey when they spoke at the announcement of a Jake's Place playground in Camden last week.

Evesham's all-inclusive playground will have a poured-in-place playground rubber surface, inclusive whirl (rotating platform), percussion play outdoor instruments and other equipment that permits children with disabilities to play, according to the June 6 bid specifications from the Township.
Township plans also show a parking lot built to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards will be next to the playground.
The bid specifications note that the contract spans 90 days.
