The limit would be reduced from Tomlinson Mill Road to Route 73.
After hearing residents' speeding complaints, Evesham Township plans to sharply reduce the speed limit on a popular short cut in the southern part of town.
The limit would be cut to 25 miles per hour from 35 on the one-mile stretch of Dutch Road from Tomlinson Mill Road to Route 73. The rural road provides a shortcut from the Kings Grant area to Route 73.
Township Council on Wednesday evening will conduct a public hearing on the second reading of the Dutch Road ordinance and then vote on the measure.
Other public hearings scheduled for the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Township Courtroom, 984 Tuckerton Road, include:
- A 25-year financial agreement to provide the developer of the planned apartment building on Centre Boulevard with a tax exemption.
- An appropriation to use up to $1 million in golf course utility bond borrowing to reconstruct the structurally unsafe balcony on the clubhouse at the Township-owned Indian Spring Country Club.
- A change in several Township fees, ranging from summer camp to the hourly cost of outside employment of a police officer.
- An ordinance setting the composition of the police force: one chief, one deputy chief, two captains, five lieutenants, 13 sergeants and 72 patrol officers.
Under the tax-exemption agreement with Marlton Crossing Dev AMS LLC, which will demolish the Marlton Crossing office complex and build 325 apartments, annual service charges will be paid the Township rather than conventional property taxes. The proposed agreement payment plan with the developer of Fort Lee, New Jersey developer:
- Payment of 11% of annual gross revenue from years one through 12
- 11.5% of annual gross revenue from years 13 through 17
- 12% of annual gross revenue from years 18 through 22
- 12.5% of annual gross revenue from years 23 through 25
Forty-nine of the apartments will be affordable or special needs housing, helping the Township to meet its affordable housing obligation.
The Indian Spring clubhouse repair will cover structural damage to the balcony that was uncovered when a contractor was replacing tile.Â
