Cherry Hill, Evesham/Marlton, Medford, Medford Lakes, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Voorhees and elsewhere near the iconic state highways of Routes 70 and 73.
A now-vacant bank building that has been a landmark for 50 years at the Route 70 entrance to the Wexford Leas neighborhood in Cherry Hill will be demolished and medical offices will be constructed in its place.
The Township Planning Board on August 3 approved the preliminary and final major site plan with bulk variances for the 1.11 acre of land at Wexford Drive and memorialized the decision with a resolution on August 18.
Constructed around 1975, a couple of years after many homes in Wexford Leas were built, the bank most recently housed Investors Bank and, before that, Roma Bank and other banks through the years.
The developer and owner, 1951 Wexford Real Estate Holdings LLC, purchased the property in March 2024 for $1.13 million from Citizens Bank, the successor to Sterling Bank, according to Camden County property records.
A 6,000-square-foot medical office building — a permitted use under zoning law — will be constructed. The developer agreed to a condition of approval that limits the number of doctors working out of the site to nine.
Another condition, maintaining the buffer in the rear, also is included in the Planning Board resolution.
Two members of the public testified about the plan at the board meeting in early August.
Although neighbor Martha Stem of Wexford Drive said she was concerned about traffic, she expressed support for the project. Martha Wright of Munn Lane asked about trash pickup and landscaping but also backed the project.
