Roskoph won't seek reelection to Cherry Hill Township Council; Democrats choose Connor to replace her.

Carole Roskoph, a 12-year member of Cherry Hill Township Council, will not seek reelection and zoning board member Rob Connor has been selected by Cherry Hill Democrats to replace her in the June primary election.

Roskoph had years of great service on Council and decided to retire, Marshall Spevak, chair of the Cherry Hill Democrats, told 70and73.com. Roskoph could not be reached for comment. 

Connor will join incumbents William Carter, Sangeeta Doshi and Jill Hulnick on the ballot.

The primary is on June 10 and the general election is November 4.

Connor, who is vice president of operations for the Hamilton-based Babe Ruth League Inc., has deep Cherry Hill roots.

His grandparents built a house on Daytona Avenue in Cherry Hill's Kingston Estates neighborhood and moved from Camden in 1958. Connor's home is about four houses from his grandparents' old home and near the Cherry Hill Youth Athletic Association baseball field, where he played as a youth and volunteered, later turning his love for baseball into a career with the Babe Ruth organization.

Connor, 51, graduated from Cherry Hill High School West (Class of 1991) as his mother did before him and his two daughters did after him.

He attended Penn State University, but left early to manage his growing landscaping business full time. 

"Good government can be a big help to everybody in the community," he said, recalling the assistance of different Township departments when he ran the Cherry Hill Youth Athletic Association.

One goal is to attract new business to the Township, balancing growth with community interests, said Connor, who has served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment for two years. He also has served on the Township Planning Board.
