Whether through increased testing or the spread of coronavirus, the number of cases on Monday in Burlington County was up 50% from Sunday and up 67% in Camden County.
Cases in Burlington totaled 39 and Camden totaled 40, according to data released Monday afternoon.
Statewide, the number of reported cases of COVID-19 was up nearly 49% between Sunday and Monday, to 2,844 from 1,914, according to the state's CVID-19 site, designed to provide solid information compared to misinformation and panic circulating on social media. The number of deaths was 20 on Sunday and 27 on Monday.
Medford Lakes got its first reported case, a male age 50. Clementon also got its first cases — a female in her 70s and a male in his 60s, according to the Monday report.

The Cherry Hill School District on Monday evening sent email to parents notifying them a parent of a student has tested positive and is hospitalized. The parent attended the High School East production of "Legally Blonde" on Friday, March 6, Superintendent Joseph N. Meloche said in the letter.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday that to preserve essential healthcare equipment and hospital capacity all elective surgeries and invasive procedures to be performed on adults will be suspended after 5 p.m. Friday. "The Governor’s Executive Order applies to all medical and dental operations that can be delayed without undue risk to the current or future health of the patient, as determined by the patient’s physician or dentist," the governor's office announced.
