A 1.3-acre lot on Evesham Road in Cherry Hill that has been empty for decades is the proposed site of an assisted-living complex for individuals with dementia, according to an application before the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Rady Enterprise LLC, doing business as South Jersey Assisted Living of Wilmington, Delaware, has applied for a use variance for the 32-bed licensed residential memory-care facility that would be built in two phases.

The project — called Sun Meadow Memory Care of Cherry Hill — is not specifically permitted in the Neighborhood Business Zone.

"The project is designed to provide a safe, supportive, and home-like environment for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia," according to the application's operations report.

Ajay Goyal of Voorhees owns the 158 East Evesham Road property, which is next to Cherry Hill Liquors.

A remote zoning board public hearing is scheduled for May 21, beginning with a caucus at 7 p.m. followed by the meeting and hearing at 7:30 p.m.

The Township has asked the developer for a tree-removal and replacement plan.

Sun Meadow Memory Care expects to employ a staff of 12 once both buildings are complete.

"Parking will be provided on-site for staff members, visiting family, and healthcare professionals. Because residents will not drive, overall parking demand will remain low compared to traditional residential or multifamily developments," the application states.
