Burgers no more: The Burger King on Route 70 in Cherry Hill closed in June. Now the property's neighbor, Polar Services Center, wants to expand onto the site.

In June, burgers were no longer being flipped at the Burger King on Route 70 in Cherry Hill as the long-time fast-food restaurant shut down. Now the national tank trailer and repair facility next door proposes to move onto the property.

Polar Services Center on Astoria Boulevard is scheduled to go before the Township Planning Board on September 16 seeking permission to take over the former Burger King property and expand its trailer/tank storage and employee parking, according to an application for preliminary and final major site plan approval and variances.

Among the variances: lot coverage of 82.54% where the maximum allowed is 70% and 37 parking spaces where a maximum of 31 spaces are permitted, according to the application.

The former Burger King site is at 1725 Route 70 East, the corner of Route 70 and Astoria Boulevard, and across from TD Bank corporate headquarters on the other side of Astoria.
