Developer's application to the Cherry Hill Planning Board
A representative of an international company that provides rooms of active electronic games for players who are tracked remotely from their wristbands proposes to open in a former Rite Aid pharmacy on Route 38 in Cherry Hill.
M&M Partners at Chapel Ave LLC, of Piscataway, Middlesex County, wants to build the gaming experience designed by Activate, a 6-year-old franchising operation with more than 40 sites worldwide. An Activate is operated from the American Dream entertainment and retail complex in East Rutherford.

The developer, which owns the 14,673-square-foot, former Rite Aid building at Route 38 and Chapel Avenue, is scheduled to appear before the Township Planning Board on Monday, March 17, beginning with a board caucus at 7 p.m. followed by the remote meeting at 7:30 p.m. For more information, go here.
"Enter the game where you become the player in the world's first active gaming facility," according to the Activate website. "Activate, jump, problem-solve, laugh, and be enthralled as you and three to five friends move between interactive challenges. ...Each dynamic game room reacts in real time, ensuring an adrenaline-pumping adventure for every facility visitor."
Operating hours at the site will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, according to the application.
"The applicant is installing several trees and shrubs to replace those previously removed without permit," according to a letter to the board by board engineer Stacey Arcari of Environmental Resolutions Inc. of Mount Laurel.
The gaming facility is a permitted principal use in the office zone, Arcari wrote. The developer seeks a site plan waiver and bulk variance.
