For some time, social media in South Jersey has been buzzing with rumors of a large housing development in unspoiled forest next to the popular and protected 1,300-acre Black Run Preserve in Evesham Township, Burlington County.

Now the rumors are proven true: A developer has filed with the Pinelands Commission for certification to move ahead with the process of clearing part of its 778 acres of forest and open space to build 270 single-family homes.

If the developer makes it through the Pinelands Commission, it still needs to go before Evesham Township to get approval for its plans.
