For years, the cute MINI auto atop the roof of the Mount Laurel dealership was a landmark during the day and a beacon at night when its headlights shone toward Route 73.
The landmark on the northbound side is gone and the MINI dealership has moved a mile north on Route 73 southbound in a renovated showroom combined with BMW.
Owner Holman Automotive Group Inc. now is asking the Mount Laurel Planning Board for the go-ahead to convert the 27,108-square-foot former MINI building into a Lincoln dealership and service center.
Holman is scheduled to appear before the board on May 9 for preliminary and final major site plan and bulk variance approvals to turn the property at 1311 Route 73 into the Lincoln sales site. Holman Lincoln now is on Route 38 in Maple Shade.
