Cherry Hill police on Thursday arrested and charged a 52-year-old Cherry Hill man in connection with the Wednesday parking-lot shooting at the Liberty Bell Plaza on Route 70 eastbound near Split Rock Drive.
Terrence Roberts was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree possessing a large capacity magazine, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
Police were called at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday to the plaza about a person shot in a vehicle, and found a 61-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in the chest. The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital and reported in stable condition.
"During the investigation, detectives learned the victim had been shot by a suspect – later determined to be Roberts – who was driving a vehicle that had pulled alongside the victim's vehicle in the parking lot," according to the prosecutor's office.
Surveillance video footage tracked the suspect's vehicle to his home and, on Thursday, police searched the residence and seized several firearms.
"The quick response, diligent police work, and our effective technology investments proved invaluable as we were able to identify and take this offender into custody without further incident," Cherry Hill Police Chief John Ostermueller said in a statement.
